26 January Dawn Reflection

Candy Demos came up from Dharawal country for the community 26 January Dawn Reflection. She stayed with her brother in Bondi.

The Dawn Reflection is an opportunity for the community to come together on the beach in front of the Pavilion at sun rise, for a morning of quiet reflection to commemorate the First Nations community with a Welcome and smoking ceremony from Traditional Custodians followed by traditional dancing from the Gamay dancers and Jannawi Dance Clan.

This was the event’s second year and anecdotally the number of attendees was double last year’s numbers.

Candy is wearing a T Shirt designed by her brother’s company Wuri Wuri that creates “sophisticated and modern Indigenous art.” To see the Bondi Collection of Wuri Wuri art go HERE.

Belle from Victoria came up for the Dawn Reflection.

Lola was there for the ceremony on Friday morning at sunrise. This was the kind of 26 January merch that we mostly saw on the day. Not so many Australian flags.
