Painter Helen S Tiernan
Painter Helen S Tiernan has an exhibition that is closing soon at Cooee Art Gallery on Lamrock Avenue. The show, Transculturation: Sublime and Surreal Encounters of First Contact in the Antipodes, closes on June 3rd.
A Gunai/Kurnai woman, Helen was born in the Lake Tyers region of Victoria, but has spent most of her adult years living and working in Canberra.
In this exhibition Helen explores and interprets Australian colonial history and the collision of “two distinctly different cultures”.
