Atta Gokyildirim
We have been seeing Atta out and about in the ‘hood for many years now. We first met him and his wife textile artist Robyn Pakula at one of the dinners that Caroline and Johnathan used to put on at the beloved and well missed UMU (nee Earth Food Store) on Gould Street years and years ago!
Atta and his family moved to Bondi from Vaucluse 20 years ago and they’re very happy that they did, settling in very quickly to the Bondi community. They owned bRU café for a few years before buying into Doughboy pizza. [Ed: Yum]
“My morning routine isn’t quite the same now since the love of my life Maddie passed away last year. Everyone knew me and my little white dog who came with me everywhere.
I got straight into the Bondi Community early on. I help with the surf lifesaving BBQ, and participated in loads of swims. I wanted to do 50 ocean swims before I was 50. The finale was the Coogee to Bondi which I actually can’t believe I did. Our kids are true Bondi lovers. I’m sure you see Tyssen around - he is usually training early each day with Trent or at Fluidform and my daughter can often be found swimming across the bay.
My wife Robyn, and I will probably spend the rest of our lives in gods country when I’m not traveling in my home country Turkey. My other love is cooking. My next goal is to produce a cooking show taking a camera crew to Eastern Turkey to discover and uncover some of Turkeys greatest cooks.
I’m pretty sure I’ve given around 100 local kids their first jobs at Doughboy Pizza. It’s a true gift to live in Bondi and call it my home.”
