Beda Grey

Beda has been a fully fledged swimming member of the Bondi Icebergs since 2006. That means she has done her 75 swims. And that means she was in the pool almost every Sunday during winter for five years. Her only regret is that Lofty (the Icebergs’ Race Recording Secretary for 30 years until standing down in 2018) happened to not be there to give her “the hug” on the morning of that 75th swim. She used to go to the gym before that so has been a an Iceberger for 20 years.

“My BONDI story is that I came here for three weeks and loved it so much I stayed, for nearly 50 years now! This is my paradise.”

Beda was in Lamrock Avenue when Nick started Gelbisons 37 years ago. “We seem to have grown old together!” We think she’s probably seen a few other Bondi stalwarts getting on in years.

“I would like people to know that I am always around to help and connect people and be as kind as I can be.”
