Bondi History | Wermugga Corroboree (updated)
Bondi local Adrian Newstead tipped us off about this incredible photograph of a Wermugga corroboree, taken at what is thought to be the south end of Bondi Beach toward the end of the 19th century.
This is not a local Sydney group but probably had been brought from Queensland to perform culture. Such vivid displays were rare in Sydney at the time given the decimation of culture from the early days of European settlement in this part of the country.
