Daryl Hossack
Daryl Hossack
Is it possible to be VERY unique? We have known the entirely unique and wonderful Daryl Hossack since not after she arrived from South Africa nearly 15 years ago. Our kids were lucky enough to have had art lessons with Daryl when they were in their teens and finishing high school. We’ve been to life drawing classes that she has run and taken adult art lessons with her.
Daryl has a way of drawing out your best without being proscriptive. Encouraging without being false.
When we first got to know Daryl her blankcanvasartscool was on Gould Street but she has moved to Seven Ways in the last couple of years.
“Bondi, aaaah sigh! Breathe in breathe out long exhale.
My Bondi Bubble has migrated from Bondi Beach to Seven Seven Ways, North Bondi when I moved my little art school scool up the hill. I soon found another Bondi Hub community with amazing turmeric latte from the guys at Blackwood, fab bagels from Lox in a Box and the friendly friendly girls at the Lemon Tree Grocer. Now I am closer to La Piadina where this picture was taken, and where Dami generously supplies me with all my art buckets . Another favourite is the fab fab Wayside Chapel Op Shop.
I am motivated by people, creativity and nature.
What do I do for the first hour of my day? I wake up get out of bed, drag a comb across my head. Usually the cat is scratching at my bedroom door, if not , as I open it he is there waiting for me. It’s such a fab morning greeting ritual. Then our mega pup Violet comes leaping up to me. Huge cuddles ensue and then they get the raw roo! (That’s really why they so happy to see me!)
Then if I’m extra lucky a walk coffee and swim with my son before teaching.
I’m a big believer in freedom. FREE FREEDOM ! An advocate for a pain free world. Less misery more kindness and rainbows.”
