Dawn Reflection Ceremony 2025
On Sunday 26 January we all gathered on Bondi Beach, the land of the Bidjigal, Birrabirragal and Gadigal for the Dawn ceremony held by the Waverley Council to commemorate the First Nations people of Australia.
Aunty Lola Ryan gave the welcome and reflected on what the day means to her. Bondi artist and performer, Walangari Karntawarra played the yidaki from before the sun rose. Wiradjuri group the Wagana perfomed contemporary and traditional dance. And the Gamay Dancers performed traditional dance from the local area and offered a smoking ceremony.
All quite magical really.
