Freddie Mitchinson
We often see Freddie at the pool where he’s a regular along with his husband Russell. He’s a gentle soul who always seems to have a smile on his face. It’s a very appealing quality. We put our Bondi Observer questions to him.
What is your Bondi Story?
“I was born in Guimaras Island. A small tropical island in the Philippines, surrounded by coral reefs, and coconut palms. Yet, like many islanders in my country, the allure of a brighter future beyond the shadows of poverty beckoned us all.
Fate had its way, and my journey led me to the iconic shores of Bondi Beach. Through countless odd jobs and unwavering determination, I eventually earned a degree in physiotherapy from the University of Sydney. Today, my work revolves around helping people regain their mobility and conquer pain which I find an extremely rewarding endeavour.
I know that I am blessed to call Bondi Beach, my home, and where I unearthed the courage to pursue a better future while creating a space to help others heal and find their own strength.”
How do you spend the first hour of your day?
”You'll often spot me and my better half, Russ, enjoying soft sand runs or spending time at Icebergs—whether hitting the gym or taking a refreshing swim in the pool.”
Is there one thing you'd like people to know about you?
“I studied massage before transitioning to becoming a physiotherapist at Sports Lab in Double Bay. I'm good with my hands!” Another appealing quality.
