This was probably the most extraordinary book launch that we’d ever been to. Let’s just say that this was the first where we were all asked to sing an African call and response song before leaving the room. And from a sold out event all those voices coming together made for a goosebumps experience.

You couldn’t really refuse this mesmerising woman. Gina Chick, a force of nature, was demonstrating to us the power of connection through song. Tick. Lesson learned.

Her book We Are The Stars is not about her experience on the inaugural Alone Australia. It’s a powerful and moving retelling of an indomitable life. Signed copies of Gina’s book are available at Gertrude & Alice on Hall Street.
