Gitte Backhausen

We were stopped in our tracks yesterday afternoon when we came across these large artworks being loaded into this small car.

Gitte and her husband Brett were loading up these beautiful works of Gitte’s to get them to The Rocks for the Second Life Exhibition that is opening tonight until Sunday only.

You may have come across her work as she was recently in the Beauty Runs the Gauntlet show at Bondi Pavilion Gallery, a showcase of women artists who live in the Waverley area, as well as many other solo and group shows and art prizes over the years.

Gitte lives between Bondi and Gerringong where she has a studio. After many years of a successful art practice, beginning in her home country Denmark, Gitte decided to enrol in the National Art School with the idea of developing her practise, expanding her horizons and connecting with other artists all of which she feels have been realised.

As an aside, the NAS grad show is on 5 December this year. Go in. It’s a great event.
