It's Festival of the Winds Time!
This annual festival for all ages began in 1978. It was born of Sydney University student John Silk’s interest in wind energy and love of kite making. He and a group of friends decided that wind should be celebrated and that Spring was the time and Bondi Beach was the place to do so.
That very first kite festival was on 10 September and has run every year since (bar the COVID years).
This year it’s on this Sunday 10th September. So 45 years to the day.
