We were wandering through the Waverley Art Prize finalists exhibition at the Pavilion yesterday. There is a wonderful piece by Iranian artist Ali Tahayori that we were admiring. We got chatting to a couple of guys nearby who turned out to be Ali’s partner (Matthew) and friend (Eric).

Matthew told us about Ali fleeing Iran in 2007. How conflicting and heartbreaking it is to be unable to return to your homeland, especially with ageing and ailing parents.

The exhibition is on until 13th August.
