Adrian Newstead OAM is a Sydney based, art dealer, author and art commentator specialising in the work of Australian Aboriginal peoples. Adrian was awarded his OAM in recognition of his role in the development of the contemporary Aboriginal art market.
Adrian is also a serious Iceberger. He has to be out of town to not be found sitting huddled, post swim, in a group discussing life etc with his regular cohort (including his wife Anne).
He and Anne have lived in the same place in Bondi since the early 80s.
A year ago Adrian sold Cooee Art, his business of 40 years, to a previous employee. He has since established Newstead Art Consultancy for his advisory work and advocacy.
Newstead Art Consultancy recently announced their first online exhibition of the year, featuring the remarkable and rare works of distinguished Pitjantjatjara artist, Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri. This online exhibition showcases a selection of mostly small works by this celebrated artist, known for his vibrant and deeply reverent paintings. Viewings are by appointment only.
