Charlie’s phone number is gold. Whenever Remo wanted to get his name down for a race at the Bondi Icebergs, he would put in a call to Charlie, thereby avoiding the need to get to the pool any earlier than just before the start of the heats. This was a rare privilege.

Charlie and Caroline have been members of the Icebergs since arriving from New Zealand 28 years ago.

They have been volunteers for most of that time too.

Charlie and Caroline, who live in Mascot, have 2 daughters and so far 8 grandchildren.
