Remo was on his way home bearing lunch from La Piadina (#1 & #6) when he was stopped on Gould Street by Helen, who recognised him from Bondi Fresh Daily. She’s a big fan of the blog, and it’s always nice to talk to big fans.

Helen began her working life in the film and TV industries in the late 60s when she joined the ABC. During this time she began her career as a scriptwriter, eventually working full-time as a freelancer in radio and TV, writing drama, children’s, animation, documentary and educational programmes. She was senior lecturer in scriptwriting for the AFTRS for over 20 years where her focus was to develop the artist’s individual voice through practical, hands-on work.

Today she works as a coach and counsellor, specialising in creativity and working with artists of all kinds from all over the world, as well as people from all walks of life who wish to make their own life their main work of art.

Her own life is a good example. She has spent big slabs of time living in other parts of the world, from Italy to Buenos Aries where her passion for dance had her immersed in the world of tango.

She has lived in Bondi on and off since 1986.

Being originally from Western Australia she needs to live in a place with big horizons (in all senses). She finds Bondi a laid back place where people smile. Even though the area is gentrifying, she feels that places retain their intrinsic characteristics, and that for Bondi that includes down-to-earth and no-bullshit.
