This nice looking fella has connections to Bondi that go way back. The Campbell in his name celebrates his descendence from an early Waverley Mayor whose name was used for the famous parade that snakes its way along the length of the beach (renaming that section of road from Bondi Road which originally went all the way to Military Road).
John doesn’t want to see much more change to the iconic suburb. “It has a certain charm.” he reckons.
He’s an integral part of Bondi culture having been a member of the Icebergs since the 60s. As well as being an Iceberg and a member of the Bondi SLSC John is also a member of the North Bondi sub-branch of the RSL. He’s got the whole beach covered.
He has been a surf lifesaver since he was 14. “I’m 79 now so you can do the maths!”
