Keith Taylor was born on 1 December 1928 in Tamworth, but has been a resident of North Bondi since he was four. He remembers when O’Donnell Street was sand dunes and being flattened to make way for houses. He and his friends used to play in the stormwater pipes that ran along O’Donnell street. His grandmother lived in a cottage opposite Mr Barracluff’s ostrich farm in North Rose Bay. Barracluff Park is named after Mr Barracluff. Keith went to Bondi Beach Public School. When he was a lad he sold newspapers on the Bondi Tram along with similar aged musician Don Burrows. At 14 he joined the merchant navy and travelled the world, then later drove the Manly Ferry. More recently he walked dogs for neighbours, and still regularly catches the bus into town to welcome ships of all shapes and sizes. Keith is a North Bondi legend!
