People of Bondi | Luscheyne Mellon
We bumped into Lu with her partner Dave Gravina and baby Audrey a week ago.
Lu was just about to hit the button on her new start-up venture Veroma, a self-serve platform that helps other new businesses set up in a single session. That new baby has since arrived.
Dave, Lu and Audrey live in Bondi.
We asked Lu what she likes about living here.
“I have lived in many suburbs around Sydney since I arrived in 2008, but the thing that struck me the most was that sense of community and connection. Our neighbours stop and chat, our kids play together on the street and we’ve set up a veggie patch for our neighbours’ kids in our garden to grow some of their own goodies. I guess these interactions take me on a bit of a trip down memory lane to my own childhood and the neighbourhoods I grew up in back home. But I also love how the community actively rallies to protect Bondi, from fighting the rezoning of the tennis courts on Wellington Street through to Saving the Pavilion.”
And what was the happiest day of your life?
“A few years ago I took a year off to pursue a dream to write a kids book [Born to Race]. It probably was not the best time to embark on such a creative endeavour, as it was the GFC but I took the leap anyway. And when you asked me of the happiest day in my life, I was transported back to my book launch. It was most magical day of my life. The pure joy of sharing my creation with all the wonderful people in my life and all of the kids during the day left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. i remember lying in bed that night, replaying the day over and over again, not wanting the magical feeling to end.”
