We met Sophia (aka Sophie) when we went in to Charlie Middleton to profile Sophia’s partner Ben a few weeks ago. That was when we learned about Sophia and Ben’s COVID love story. See HERE (it’s worth it!). She was working across the road at Tin Pin Bakery when they met but is now working as a barista at Lox Stock and Barrel on Glenayr.

Sophia wasn’t sure what to do after finishing school so thought coming to Australia to study sounded like a good idea. That was June 2017 and she has been in Bondi since then. “Other than my studies I hadn’t really planned everything out, and I was such a baby at 18, but I really felt accepted here and found my feet pretty quickly.

“I love the coffee culture here. It’s become a big part of my life. Obviously the beach too. I’d never swum in the ocean before moving here, and now it’s a routine.”

Sophia is motivated by “my partner, family, friends. And a good coffee!

How do you spend the first hour of your day? “Telling my weird dreams to my partner. Haha.”

Is there one thing you’d like people to know about you? “I am so shy. It takes me a while to get comfortable around new people.
