If you want someone in your life who is always a pleasure to see introduce yourself to Rex. We have been seeing Rex around the Bondi traps since … could it be forever?? So it was fun to hear a bit more of his story.

“I grew up in the outback of Far West Queensland 🐪 🏜️ 🌵. The only water was the local pool and the river that was dry 11 months of the year! We used to watch the trickle arrive from the catchment areas. We spent our time swimming in swollen rivers, riding in the back of utes and jumping in the water and being sucked into the round tunnels that let the water pass through the bridge.

I knew I had to get away but I loved my childhood riding with my Dad to the shearing sheds on school holidays.

So I studied, travelled and lived overseas but always wanted to return to Australia. I needed the bush, nature, animals, birds and more birds. I found Bondi and felt that the world was here. The various accents and mix of people made me feel like I was still traveling. It also was the most beautiful water paradise. Water, water and more water!

I don’t ever take it for granted but I still feel like I need to escape to North Queensland and beyond!

This is my Nirvana (Sanskrit): निर्वाण, nirvāṇa; Pali is "blowing out" or "quenching" of the activity of the grasping mind and its related unease.
