We first met Roberta and her partner Santini Salvadore when she was half way through her dream project. The heartbeat of love was palpable between the two of them.
Half Italian, half Mexican Roberta is the creator of Betta Design Studio, specialising in “creating exclusive prints for fashion, interiors and any surface”.
What does Bondi mean to you?
“Bondi was the first place I came to when I moved to Australia from Italy in 2013, and of course I found that it was one of the most spectacular beaches I had ever seen. I have lived in Bondi for over 8 years. It became my home. It is the symbol of my rebirth, a new start, a new place to discover myself as an individual on this planet earth. It has always been a special refuge for me since the first day and I felt I was in the right place at the right time.
Bondi allowed me to finally find my freedom of expression and creativity. I started my own business in 2015 as a textile designer and seeing my designs on bikinis, wetsuits and dresses around the beach has been amazing.
Living by the beach surrounded by great vibes and happy people gave me the opportunity to grow as a connect to myself and dream bigger believing that everything that comes from your heart can happen.”
We wondered what motivates a person as passionate as Roberta.
“There are many things that motivate me in my life but love is definitely the biggest source of inspiration. Love inspires me because it’s in everything we do with our hearts and that’s when creations, dreams and ideas can grow into something new!
That’s why I decided to paint my favorite symbol in my mural in Bondi.
My partner and my best friend applied for the BondiSeaWall mural on my behalf 2 years ago (it was supposed to be my birthday present!) I wasn’t aware until a couple of months ago when we received the approval. WHAT A PRESENT!
It was a dream come true - I had the opportunity to leave a mark on the most gorgeous beach which was home for me. Love was the message I needed to shout to the world.
Life is a moment, and this moment is all we have.
A precious journey, sometimes a rollercoaster, not always easy and we are not in control of everything ; All we can really do is our best to show up everyday and choose how to live this ride, giving our full hearts with compassion and awareness..
