South End Rowing Club
Ten members of the Iceberg’s sister club, the South End Rowing Club from San Francisco, are here to do an ocean swim with the locals. This is an annual event that alternates between here and San Francisco.
The Sydney event, which was swum this morning, started in Bronte and finished up at the Icebergs. When in California, the event starts at Alcatraz and they swim to Fisherman’s Wharf. Twenty five Bergs went over last year and this is the fourth year of this reciprocal event.
The San Franciscans will swim the Bay tomorrow with Alan Gow and his regular crew, including Annie Parnell et al. On Sunday they will be joining the annual Open Day [commencement of winter season] festivities.
