Sand Erosion at the South End

Sand Erosion at the South End

This is crazy. We noticed, as we arrived at the south end of the promenade when we were out for our evening stroll, that the formation of the beach looked different. There were exposed rocks that we hadn’t seen before. And there was a very enticing (for small children) escarpment of sand that had also appeared, seemingly, overnight.

Usually the sand continues all the way along here but after a series of storms that produced very high swells so much of it was eroded and taken out to sea.

Longer view

Sandier times.
