We met Santino when he was assisting his artist girlfriend Roberta Montorforno (profile to come) who was painting her mural on the sea wall last week. Santino had surprised Roberta by applying for the place on the wall two years ago and only telling her what he had done when she was offered the slot.

It turns out Santino is also an artist but of the musical kind. Embracing rock pop, indie rock, punk rock, he is a song writer and performer.

“Bondi has been my nest of creations and community for over 5 years. I’m originally from Sicily (Italy), and being able to live in Bondi Beach was, in a way, finding a home again in the sea breeze.

This special piece of land allowed my music to blossom and flourish.” Santino has done many live gigs in the local bars. and he hosted the open mic night at 34 Bondi, for nearly two years. He also hosted a programme on Bondi Beach Radio for 6 months which “was an important tool to reach the heart of my lovely partner Roberta for the very first time.”

Santino is a soulful man. “Learning about our existence through arts and culture, being able to be of support of people, creatives and reach their heart through my music - to connect with people in a honest and authentic way. That is what I feel myself gravitating towards.”

His day starts with “a few rituals that make me transition from the dreams to the tangible world :)

As I wake up I drink warm water and honey along with the roots of neem and turmeric - these are fantastic ingredients which are used in the yogi culture, very beneficial for the well-being.

Then I meditate for about 15-20 minutes in silence to get grounded and embody the energies of the new day.

After that I write my “Morning Pages” - 3 pages of handwritten words about anything and everything, so that I can unleash the creativity while realising what my thoughts are in the very back of my mind. It is a tool I picked up from “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron - highly recommended book for anyone who feels drawn into creativity and the spiritual path.

We wondered if there was anything that Santino would like people to know about him. “I would love people to know about the music I write, produce and perform. I’ve been dedicating half of my human life toward it - the music carries empowering messages.”
