Fair warning - we have been taking our car to Steve at STL Automotive for many years. You’re unlikely to find a mechanic as straight talking and as fair as Steve. He was recommended to us by good friends when we were looking for a local mechanic who we could trust.
When we say ”straight talking” we don’t mean he talks a lot. To say that Steve is a laconic fellow would be an understatement.
Steve was recently made President of the North Bondi SLSC where he has been a member for 43 years.
“My Bondi story, or as I prefer, my North Bondi story, started in 1964 when I was born to Shirley and Gordon Larnach. I am the youngest of five.
My mother Shirley now 97 and going strong was born in Hall Street and like me has lived in Bondi all her life.
I have lived in five streets my entire life, Brighton Blvd, Hastings Pde, Ramsgate Ave, Simpson St and now Murriverie Rd.
I attended Bondi Beach Public School and then Dover Heights Boys High.
I have had two jobs, Bondi Garage where I did my apprentice ship and worked for eleven years, and STL Automotive that my wife of 32 years Tara and I started 31 years ago.
My passion is North Bondi Surf Club where I have been a member since 1980 and am currently President.
I enjoy a beer and catch up with mates.”
You might be AS “of Bondi” as Steve, but no-one could be MORE “of Bondi” than Steve.
And FYI, if he’s not wearing this hat you have to ask yourself if it’s the real Steve.
