St Johns at City To Surf
The 2016 City2Surf run happened last Sunday. As usual it was well attended (to say the least) and well run (pun intended).
Also, once again, it was overseen by the dedicated St John volunteers. What an unsung bunch of heroes they are.
Established in 1883 their original inspiration drew from the Knights of St John from medieval times. Those knights would rush into battle to care for injured pilgrims and Crusaders.
The organisation’s current day emblem is derived from the Cross of Calvary which the original Knights used to distinguish themselves as allies.
These days they are not rushing into battle so much but they are still tending to the sick and injured among many other things that they do. First aid relief at the City2Surf being just one.
