Vale Emma Kemeny

If you live in (or frequently visit) Bondi … you will know Kemeny’s on Bondi Road. For a very long time it has been the default answer to all of your wine and spirits needs … and, along with relative newcomer Harris Farm Markets on Hall Street, THE place to bump in to ALL of your neighbours. Thanks to a very strong online presence, Kemeny’s also happens to be Australia's largest independent liquor retailer.

Co-founder and matriarch Emma Kemeny died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday 10 March.

Known as Anyu to her two sons Andrew and Gabriel, and Emmi or “Mrs K” to friends and loved ones she will be deeply missed.

Emma with her late husband, Leslie, opened Bondi landmark Kemeny’s over 63 years ago. Since 2022 it has been embedded within an adjacent Woolworths Metro.
