Vessels of Love 2024: Love in Transmission
Now in its fourth year, Vessels of Love is an annual poetry program that seeks to explore ideas and forms of love.
This year, for Valentine’s week from 12 to 18 February, Poetry Sydney in curatorial collaboration with the contemporary arts collective The Salons, presents Vessels of Love 2024: Love in Transmission.
There are seven participating poets, including Ali Whitelock whose witty and exquisite book And My Heart Crumples Like a Coke Can sits proudly on a bookshelf here at BOHQ. A Brief Letter to the Sea About a Couple of Things is Ali’s fourth book.
All seven poets have recorded their work and they will be released over the week.
On Friday 23 February all works will be broadcast live to air on the Arts Friday programme on Eastside FM from the Bondi recording studio in the Pavilion. The poets are being recorded for the poetry podcast ORATURE.WAV, which is set be launched in the last week of February.
Listen up all you Bondi poets and poets to be!
Tides of Love, the experimental part of the programme, is calling on the global community to “write their poetry on love into the tide line of their local beach, using instruments that exist in their environment to create a short video or photos to post on social media platforms using #loveintransmission #vesselsoflove2024 #poetrysydney”.
