Vix Erber and Miami
Vix Erber and Miami
Warning - we are members of The Bondi Vixen, the exercise business that Vix started 30 years ago - but we’re there because we like it and feel like it’s doing us a lot of good!
We got chatting to Vix after a class recently and realised how little we knew about her. It turns out she is a third generation Bondi resident and has seen a lot of change in the neighbourhood over the years. And she has a lovely story to tell.
“My grandparents fled the war in Europe and set up a new life in Bondi Beach in the 1940s. My mother grew up in Warners Avenue and went to Bondi Beach Public School. My grandmother opened a hair dresser down the street at Seven Ways.
I also grew up in North Bondi and have lived, socialised and worked in Bondi Beach my entire life. I am the pioneer of fitness in Bondi Beach and started the bootcamps on the beach, before the explosion of the fitness industry. I’m still going strong in womens fitness over 30 years later. With a stunning boutique studio in the North Bondi hub. I’m what you call the original Bondi trainer!
I believe experience and dedication to my passion (helping women find their inner strength through health and fitness) is key to long term success with my brand Bondi Vixen.
My lifestyle has never really changed over the years. I love to walk to work with my dog, grab a coffee on the way then teach classes over the morning. I normally then train myself, walk home eat and do some admin. Some days I teach in the afternoons or have private training clients. I have always been a lover of the simple life. Because my work life is so social and high energy, I like to keep my personal life on the down low, so I can recharge, spend time with quality friends, spend on one one time with my dog and chill out.
When I was younger I was a party girl and had to be everywhere and I knew everyone. These days I’m completely opposite, I try to stay away from crowds, which is pretty damn hard living in Bondi these days...
Fun Fact:
My era started the North Bondi grassy knoll trend. We used to sit there as teenagers and continued doing so through out the years. Over the last few years its just become way too busy and hectic and not peaceful at all, which is a shame for the OGs like me..
One thing about me…
Most people think I’m this loud, strong, fierce woman but the truth is I’m extremely sensitive, can be shy, and prefer not to be the centre of attention. I am a real empath especially with animals and I am very intuitive so I can read people extremely well with the strong feelings I sense and experience. I started getting tattoos in my early 20s and they represent stages or times in my life that had a massive impact on me. Now it’s so common for women to have tattoos, I don’t stand out as much anymore lol..”
We asked Vix what was the biggest change she has seen over the years. Without hesitation she said that it’s the crowds, especially during holiday periods. If possible Vix will escape on long weekends to avoid the frustration.
