BONDIWOOD
BONDIWOOD
Bondi Pavilion was awash with filmmakers for BONDIWOOD, the inaugural four day festival of films by local filmmakers.
Festival organiser, producer Haydn Keenan has to be pleased that all of his, Gai’s and the volunteers’ hard work paid off. More than a 1000 people came through the doors with many getting their first look at the great renovations recently completed at the Pavilion. They got to enjoy a very Bondi event, relaxed, fun and unpretentious. MC, inner city cult legend Jay Katz, set the scene for each film and running Q+As afterwards.
Stephan Elliott’s odyssey through the sexual mores of Sydney’s northern beaches in the 70s, SWINGING SAFARI, kicked off the festivities that ended with Kimble Rendall’s hilarious fright-filled screening of supermarket sharkfest BAIT. In between there were musicals, kids films, surf classics and hard hitting documentaries from Ukraine. Four days of movies, panel discussion, and a few quiet ones at the bar. Bondi came together to celebrate the extraordinary film and television output of our residents.
Look out for next year’s event. They have plenty more films up their sleeves.
