Matteo Ernandes and Danilo Creati
Matteo Ernandes and Danilo Creati
This job is fun!
We were driving along Warners Avenue yesterday afternoon when we noticed a garage door open so we stopped to see what was happening inside. All sorts of interesting things are going on in the garages of Bondi. Art making, music making, tech start-ups and beer brewing to name a few.
In this one Matteo was being trained by Danilo in the art of boxing. They were very happy to take a quick breather to tell us something about themselves.
Both men are Italian and both arrived in Bondi in 2014 but they didn’t meet until a year later.
Matteo is a pizza chef and was working at Maurice Terzini’s Da Orazio before moving over to the Icebergs Dining Room and Bar. “I love Bondi and it was and it a pleasure for me having the honour to be able to serve and share with them my cuisine though the years I’ve been living here 😃.”
Bondi is lucky enough to have some passionate Italian chefs creating real Italian food. Matteo is a friend of Luca from Di Napoli and he goes up from time to time to help out.
See Matteo’s Instagram page HERE. But not if you’re hungry!
Danilo is a professional boxer (watch the video below). He is also passionate about what he does.
Danilo’s decision to come to Australia from Southern Italy in 2014 was romantic one. His girlfriend at the time suggested that they leave home together to “have a beautiful year in Australia”. Unfortunately at the last minute, after all the tickets were bought, visas received and farewell dinners had, the girlfriend’s family refused to let her leave and Danilo made the difficult decision to come here anyway.
Now Danilo is an in demand boxer “my professional record is 6-0 after fighting all over the world in Australia, Italy, Vietnam and Korea,” training at his Bondi Boxing Club “where I run my own training with coach Tony del Vecio and also my personal training business as a boxing coach.”
