Bondi is in a state of shock with the news of the sudden death of one of its luminaries.
Dion was a mountain of a man. Physically as alpha as they come. He had a larger than life way about him. As a sculptor he was a tamer of fire and metal. It’s a tough watch in the circumstances, but we would urge you to check out this 4 minute film about Dion and his work by Toby Pike.
And he was a great friend and mentor to many, including our son Roman, who shared a private note with us over the weekend posted to the “Kettle Bell Maniacs”, a group of men who Dion trained in multiple sessions every week. Roman described Dion as a “Shirt off his back, no questions asked type of human”.
The community has started to leave messages, flowers and artworks in front of his garage on Forest Knoll Avenue.
The community is heartbroken.
