"Lurline" by Lance Corlett
'Lurline' by Lance Corlett
Friend of Bondi Observer (“FOBO”) Pip Cummings alerted us to the work of traditional sign writer and illustrative artist Lance Corlett, and in particular “Lurline” that is currently on show in the Hooray for Hollywood exhibition at the Hollywood Hotel in Surry Hills.
Lurline is one of Bondi’s iconic beauties. It sits between Campbell Parade and Brighton Blvd in North Bondi.
We reached out to Lance to find out what drew him to the neighbourhood and its architecture for his art.
“I've always loved the Art Deco architecture in Bondi, such elegant and bold designs that have such an impact on the area, and there are so many of them!”

Hooray for Hollywood closes on 30 September.
