At 23 Bondi girl Pauline Menczer was the was Women's World Champion for Professional Surfing. That was 1993.
Chris Nelius’ 2020 film Girls Can't Surf was about the struggles of Pauline and women like her, who were competing in this male dominated sport. Chris is lobbying Waverley Council to have a statue of Pauline erected near the bubbler at the south end of the beach.
