These two were fresh from witnessing the rescue of a swimmer who’d gotten in trouble at the north end when we came across them.
Says Rex, “We were walking 🚶 and stopped for a chat 💬 deciding whether or not the surf 🏄‍♂️ was ok for a swim 🏊‍♂️.
Out of nowhere we noticed a young inexperienced swimmer 🏊‍♂️ who had been moved across into the path of a rip. We looked for a flotation device and/or lifeguard contact (there is nothing down Ben Buckler end - another issue to raise in the next combined Precinct meeting!).
We were watching him and saw that the lifeguard had also spotted him and was to the rescue 🛟! Rough conditions, no flags up and lack of surf sense!
The lifeguard was terrific, executed a tough rescue 🛟 (ocean currents in all directions 🧭) and managed to get the swimmer to shore safely! The swimmer then just walked off ...”
