Meeting Sammy, Mum Nichola, “Gorgeous Aunty Dee” and “friend but the same as family”, Narumi, was a joy. Obviously a close and loving family that has had to face what for most of us would be unimaginable.

Sammy has had a lifetime of health challenges beginning when she was 4 days old when she stopped breathing and rendered her legally blind. She has had to endure multiple spinal, brain, heart operations, continuous throbbing brain tumour induced pains, multiple daily seizures, unsuccessful chemo and myriad other treatments.

In the words of Gorgeous Aunty Dee, “throughout all of these challenges Samantha insists to be independent and SHINES BRIGHT [Ed: Yes she does]. Her signature smile, fun can-do happy nature brightens everyone's days. Known for her bubbly happy nature and a born optimist anyone who has had the pleasure in meeting her would agree. Unconditional LOVE from her family and the extraordinary bond that she and I have have taken her into theatre for 39 operations.”

Sammy’s next challenge is getting back up out of the wheelchair.
