Three Generations at North Bondi Grocer

The Tsakirios family have owned and run what is now called North Bondi Grocer since 1976. It might look different to what it did since the upgrade a few years ago but it still can be described as “the magic shop” (thanks Uri) as no matter what you’re looking for you’re gong to find it at NBG.

Back in 1976 Tony and his brother Nio saw what a great opportunity the business on Campbell Parade (opposite the bus terminus) promised and “left their jobs behind to begin their own adventure.” Nio left the business in 2020.

The three generations of Tsakirios’ pictured here were working on this particular day but you are also likely to come across matriarch Anna, daughter Irini, daughter-in-law Maria, grandkids Anna, Anthony, Peter and Thea. Son Theo and his wife Yianna are the sole “escapees”.

Tony has no plans to retire. Even after all these years he still loves coming to work and serving us, his customers. He has seen many families grow over time.
